Also known as wood grain metal, the technique of making mokume gane is as much an art as a science. Multiple layers of different metals are fused together, bent, twisted and flattened to create the complex and natural looking patterns, and striking color contrasts where the metals meet. This technique can be applied to a wide range of metals, from the most precious to the more common. Either way, the results are unique and beautiful.
